You are aware that the "running boards" can be ordered on a new vehicle? This probably would be less expensive than buying them from your friend, as an after the fact. If you are thinking of purchasing from dealer stock then, yes, as TomHHR said, use the boards as a price dealing tool. IMO

JB1 -

There's been lots of good advice/information in response to your post. I agree with the running boards info. The one I bought (1Lt/2.4/auto/sportredmetallic/may06 production date) didn't come with r.boards but I ordered them at the time of purchase and they came in 2weeks. Dealer installed them and I'm glad I got them. I haven't had mine long, just over 1 month/ I've put about 1500 miles on it and the Only things out of the norm have been losing my instrument panel lights for a few seconds at a a time, on 3 occasions. If you/ve been reading this forum you know to check your fuses, if you do get one.

I'm very happy I got mine. Everything is relative, and for the price/fun/functionality I don't think I could beat it.

The only thing I didn't get with mine was the Pioneer 6 speaker system. If you like to crank up the music at all, you won't like the base audio units.

Can the A/C noise be fixed?

I havent had any problems with my truck and no problems with my 2000 Z71 that I sold to buy my 05.

Okay peeps......were going to test drive one this morning at 10am so we'll see, hopefully they will make a deal we can agree on.

JB1, I've had my HHR since March and truely love it. Mine was one of those with the growling A/C and was probably one of the first few to take it in for warranty due to this issue. However at the time GM didn't have a fix so they flushed out the system and replaced the compressor. It was a few weeks after that the TSB was released so I went back to the dealer. They did the TSB and everythings just GREAT. Other than yhat I think the HHR is one heck of a cruck for the $$$. haven't gone back to the dealer with any other problems what-so-ever. Dan
