Merry Christmas to all....
So I finally was able to get around to working on my HHR and took off the heat shield from the exhaust manifold... look what I found was giving all these headaches. There was black soot on the heat shield where it sits on top of it.
Has anyone in Cali have a hard time ordering part from your local auto parts stores? All the ones online say that it is a state regulated part... Cali smog I guess.
I need to get the car up an running without faulting another O2 sensor, would JB weld high heat work until I can get a part to replace it?

I can understand the catalytic converter being state specific, but the exhaust manifold, no looks like a Dorman part or EBay part, the 2.2 and 2.4 will fit , but have different part numbers , but are identical, maybe the ID of the tubes are larger in the 2.4 manifold.

That is what I thought. I checked both Oreilly and Autozone both online and guys behind the counter tell me the same thing.
Might have to go to a dealer or online dealer that can ship.
Since I have had the car, it has never overheated. I did move to the High Desert and winters are very cold and wonder if that caused the crack.

I think there is a difference; in CAL you have to have Original type exhaust. The cast header is OK because it is the original type whereas the cheaper one (674-418) looks to be a "custom header", maybe welded.

Seems that the parts need an EO number and they no longer inspect after market parts, so you have to use parts made by whoever made the parts that come on the car originally. That is a strict reading.
Maybe drive across the border. I don't know how the inspector would know the cast manifold is Dorman not whoever GM bought it from.
Or, a junk yard part.

I have been keeping an eye and they keep stating out of stock. I am picking it up now.
