If the timing belt aint broke-I say fix it anyway! Preventative maintenence is good-or just bring a roll of duct tape... Or get the chain upgrade that I got.

(Disclaimer-sorry bout the post-with so much crap going on right now-I had to make myself laugh)

timing chain

Ok qui k question i have 2011 chevy hhr drove is to walmart killed it went inside came back out wouldnt crank , took it to a shop

shop says timing chain is broke an dthat they need to take the heads off to replace it. Is this true if so thats fine. Or can it be done with out taking the heads off

They'll want to take the (one) head off to check the valves and likely replace the damaged ones... Did it make much noise when trying to restart it?

Taking the head off is to inspect for for other damage like valves and piston interference. It should only be a little more money, if there is no more damage.

You might want a second opinion anyway.

How many miles are on it an 11 may still be under drivetrain warrenty
