Tire Pressure Idiocy

So my tire pressure gauge kept coming on, yet when I checked it with a guage it was fine. It turns out when they hooked up my sensors they must of gotten them confused and reversed. It turns out my Left rear sensor was really for the Left Front. I will have to take it in to get them to fix it. But I started to feel like I was going crazy.

Actually, it is very easy to reprogram yourself, no need to take in to dealer. You will need a tire pump as it involves bleeding pressure off on all 4 tires in sequence for the diy method.

Well the warranty makes the choice easy. I have them do all the work till I hit 50K.

Read the owners manual and learn your car,, you'd rather spend half a day at the dealer to do a menial task thats fully explained in the book, and hold up another customer who probably really needs the work done.Theres nothing wrong with your car..just needs the sensors synch'd....even a caveman can do it..............

Well reading this just made me question one of the techs at my dealership. The first time I got my tires rotated he told me that I had to pay extra for them to reprogram my pressure sensors in them, I'm thinking that's stupid so obviously I didn't, but the second time I got them rotated (different service guy this time) when I got the car back they were programed properly and didnt have to ask them to do it either.

(p.s. not all dealerships are bad just some people that work at them)

You'd think if I still have to pay for certain maintenance on a warrantied car, something like that would be included.

I call it the GM Chinese fire drill. It takes about 3-4 min's to do and not worth takeing back to the dealer unless you like sitting around.

Just be happy it is a GM car as many other make you take them to the dealer to reset unless you have a $400 programer to reset them.

There also is a thread here on how to do it. This is where I learned how when I put my winter tires on last year.

Just next time you go to the dealer make sure they take care of it before you leave.

The last time I was at the dealer they mentioned how they didn't reset this and someone messed/blew up a tire trying to get the pressure right.

I once watched a guy blow out a radial tire once by over filling it. He then put on the spare that was low and blew it up too. It must have knocked him back 6 feet.

He did not get hurt but how dumb can you be.

When I was a little kid a cheap aunt of mine gave me 25 cents at the gas station to fill my bike tires and I put in the air I needed and she snatch the hose and continued to fill while she yelled at me to use up the whole quarter. Next thing the tire blew and she was standing there looking stupid with her ears ring. The good old days.
