I just add more set the system and then let out air to what I want. Use a good guage to start with that has a air bleed. Don't be affraid to spend more than $20 on a good guage.

One of the things that takes time is for the TPS to update its PSI reading when you are putting air in or taking air out of tire. It is not instantaneous, so you need to put a little air in and wait for the reading to catch up. Otherwise you over or under inflate the tires.
I hear ya, jerSSey. There is a somewhat lengthy polling interval for the tire pressure data to reach the DIC. But I like to get all of the tires exact as well. After I'm done with the Chinese Fire Drill, I bring one tire into spec using the DIC. I then take a digital tire guage and check the same tire tire and measure the delta between the guage and the DIC (they are never the same). Then I take that reading with the digital and equalize the other 3 tires. It saves time adjusting air in each tire and waiting for the polling interval to take place.

I have a gauge built into to my compressor, but it is not real accurate. I should use my digital one instead.

Also, it's not really important to know which tire the tpms states is low ... it's nice though. When you get a warning, check all tires.

I have a car with a low tire light but will not give which tire. It is a pain.

With 17" tires you do not know what one is low since it comes on if there is only a 6 pound differance. Also if you are out and want to look for a screw or damage you have to look at all 4 tires.

The one on the HHR is much better and you can keep a closer eye on them. With 18" tires they all look low.

Trust me the reading are much better than just the idiot light.
