Changing the transmission fluid for the WINTER?? Good God. You really should have asked to speak with the general manager at that point. That's just not even funny.

So then he tells me we're passed time for the fuel injectors to be cleaned. At this point I just laughed and told him that we take car of those things when they are due by the GM schedule. So he gives me that stern look again and says, " Oh, so you're a trained mechanic and have your own garage?" At that point I told him with a stern look, "Just stop it!"

I signed the service order and went my way. Just goes to show you that even a "good" dealer may try to take ya to the cleaners if you're not careful!
Sound's like a service writer whose's on commission to make money on any service he can sell and to anyone he can sucker in for it.
I wonder what kind of a line he would use on a customer who just took delivery of a new vehicle?
Next time you go in for service Mike wear your, "Educated Consumer Hat" and see if they still try to sell you something you don't need.

the funny thing that happend with me is that when i took my hhr for a warranty issue a couple of weeks after i got the car, the guy writing the ticket asked me if i wanted to do an oil change. He told me that it would be a good idea since there was no record of when the prev. owner did one and since the car may have been sitting on the lot waiting to be sold, why take a chance. i've been in sales for some time and i must say that was a pretty good pitch there. I told him naw ill do it my self on my next day off. Thats when he told me, well we can do it here for only $$$ that way you don't have to get under the car and get all dirty when changing the oil and FILTER. I looked at him and said, well the filter is acctually on top. as he tore of the paper he replied, the oil filter is always on the bottom. too bad i couldn't have done a "click on this link" type of thing on his BUTT.

Remember that episode of Seinfeld where Jerry needs something done to his car, and he takes it to a dealer and is quoted some outrageous price? He tells George that he thinks the dealer "might be trying to screw me." George's reply is the God's truth: "Well, of course they're trying to screw you. What do you think? That's what they do. They can make up anything. Nobody knows. 'By the way, you need a new Johnson rod in there.' 'Oh, a Johnson rod. Yeah, well, you better put one of those on!'"

But I bet he is a college Grad... Now qualified to be smarter than a "Trained Mechanic".
