Towing

I have an LT2 with the 2.4 L and need to tow about 1600 lbs. Can I do that?

It's rated by GM at 1000 lbs, but people on this board will tell you that you can. I wouldn't recommend it.

+1 to ChevyMgr. Can you? Probably but it may damage the vehicle and/or be unsafe. Is it a good idea? No.

You might be able to argue that there is some leeway in the recommended tow number, but surely not 60%. Consider renting or borrowing a vehicle more suited to the task.

Rent a Uhaul. It will be cheaper in the long run if anything was to happen.

I have a 5x8 enclosed trailer and pull it around town ok. The interstate is a different thing, with the trailer empty the motor and transmission work to hard in my oppinion. I have no idea what the trailer weighs. I only use it for a few large awkward items the wont fit in the car.
