I pulled my wiring harness out through the bottom of the spare tire well. That way I could hook up the trailer without having to run it out the rear door.

It tucks up under the back bumper very well.

Uhaul installed my hitch and the wiring harness tucks into the little platic door and is completely out of sight when not in use. I was impressed with their install.

Digging up an old topic.....

So which brand tucks up the most? I want to pull my little tent trailer, but without making my SE looking too odd at the sametime.

I know you were just trying to help, but that thread doesn't even mention anything about which hitch fits closest to the body. Thank you anyway though.

I did a search and haven't found anything.

I was just hoping someone has seen more than just one installed.

Thanks again.

One thing has not been raised here. The damage that you will do with a trailer is not to the engine but the transmission. If you are going to pull a trailer on a regular basis, the best investment you can make is a transmission cooler. The main thing that destroys your transmision is over heating. A good transmission cooler can be purchased for less than a $100. and is an easy install.

The reese hitch mounts the highest to the bumper. I do short tows and will still get a cooler this spring when spring gets here. My ATV is the most I haul and even thats not often. I gear works really good on the grades, both up and down. I have been towing occasional for 14 months now.

Smile Towing trailer

I'll be leaving tomorrow on a trip up North, making quite a few stops in between. I have a hidden Hitch installed by my dealer. I explained to the dealer what I would be towing & they agreed to install the hitch. I'll be towing my Harley on a small open trailer. Will be riding alone except for some RC models & the usual clothes.
I have towed other bikes with a 4cyl.(2.4) vehicle & didnt have any problems. I'll try to keep you posted on my trip & how the HHR handles.
By the way I did take it for a test run last week & she ( Sandy) felt just fine. I'm going to try & post a photo of the setup.
