Trailer Hitches

Has any one installed a hitch on their HHR? I have been looking at the Hidden Hitch. My old Corolla had a Reese Shadow Mount which I liked but they are no longer made.

Put a hitch on my HHR two weeks after I bought it. There is not much difference between the hidden hitch and reese hitch. Like most things these days, one manufacturer makes the same item for several companies. If you plan on putting it on yourself - look in the how to section - lots of good info and you have to drop the tailpipe/muffler near the back.

Your Not supposed to tow with a Manual transmission, SS or Otherwise.

I think if you have a Automatic Trans SS you can tow just like the other HHR's with an Automatic. Not much weight, but you can at least.

Adding a hitch to my Panel this Spring. I got to be able to at least tow my small trailer, for some light hauling at least.

I don't understand the logic but it's there in the manual. I wonder what they would say if I did anyway. I know "by the book" they would cancel my drivetrain warranty. However, what if I was just using my storage rack?

I don't see how they could prove otherwise. I would probably add some lights to it, so I could have wiring and they couldn't say "Well then why do you have wiring?".

biggest problem is the rear bumper. I'm not about to drill a hole thru the center of the bumper.
