Ttttthhhhhuuuuuummmmmpppppp!

Two days after I got a rock wacking my windshield, I hit a deer. I was driving home late Friday night on a rural County highway when a deer came out of the woods on the left side of the road. I hoped the deer would not go any further, but as soon as it saw my car it darted across the road. I was going about 55 MPH and jammed on the brakes immediately. I got the SS down to about 20 MPH and the deer almost got all the way across before I heard a THUMP when I hit the back end of the deer.

I pulled over to the side of the road, thinking that I had to have had some bumper or headlight damage. I tried checking with a flashlight, and I could not even find where the deer hit the bumper. It must have been near the mounting frame where there is little give in the bumper. It is a miracle I have no damage. The car is still covered with road salt, so there may be some small scratches buried in the plastic, but no real damage to the plastic or sheetmetal in the area.

I got REAL lucky on this one!

PS - hopefully the deer didn't suffer too much. I saw it scamper away, and I hope it didn't break its leg or anything like that.

WOW, that's great luck Jerssy. After the rock thing you must be very relieved. Last time I hit a deer it was like $8K in damage!

Maybe your luck has changed.

Sounds like you and I have about the same luck. This story reminded of when we hit the ass end of a giant elk with my blazer in yellowstone when we were going about 15mph and he turned and gave us a dirty look.

Sorry to hear about the deer strike.

We should start a club. I just got mine back from the dealership, and had my windshield get chipped two days later; which was just a few days after yours. I will be keeping my eyes open for deer, since I pass about three dead ones on the side of the road between home and work. We don't need another epidemic.

Haven't even had my SS for 6mo yet and already someone hit it today or last night. I have to park it on the side of the road as the parking lot is worse where I work. Parking is parallel, and I always try to get this 1 spot in front of a house that is red both in front and behind, only room for 1 car. Usually I get it, sometimes the owner parks his van there even though he has a driveway on the side, and sometimes someone else is parked there. Today was the latter, so I parked across the street, backed all the way up to the red line, so at least that way only 1 car would park near me. BTW, parking is the same at my house, parallel on the street, I hate it! So anyways, I get out to my car today and just for ****s and giggles went to look at the front of the SS as the car in front of me had already left. Sure as **** the license plate was bent at the top right corner and the bumper above it was slightly scuffed, so it seems that someone either last night or today bumped my car. I can't wait to get out of here!!

New Jersey should be renamed the road hazard state.

Ya jerSSY, instead of the brakes you should have nailed it. The SS version of the "deer whistles"
