Question Tweet tweet goes my HHR

Nice weather today a little breezy but still rode with all the windows down traveling about 40 MPH I started hearing an intermitant whistle sound then steady. Thought it might be the radio station so I changed it, still there next I put up the windows and it stopped. I then put them back down and it came back. I happened to open my dash vents which were closed and the noise stopped. The fan was not on and output was set to upper vents only. I also noticed quite a bit of air comming out even with the fan off. Has anyone had this happen to them? Why is there that much air coming out with the fan off?

I bet your AC was set to "fresh air". It would be the "wind rush" coming in through the vents. Shouldn't happen if it were set to "recycle".

I actually noticed this same thing a few days ago. Its the wind going between the door and the mirrors. Ive never noticed any noise with the vents.

I wonder if anything can be done to eliminate this noise...I think mine is coming from the mirrors but not positive....if I put my windows up I can still here it sometimes

Not all HHRs do this though as the other 3 I have driven as rentals did not do this...I will try the recirc thingy

Sort of sucks

If you change the settings on the selector that controls where the air blows, it will stop. I believe mine is set straight up and down and no air with the fresh air setting on.
