Post Underneath rear seats

I am trading my HHR for a larger vehicle(GMC Acadia) & I know stuff has disappeared underneath my rear seats --- I can fold the seat backs forward just enough to get out some of the stuff but I am still missing CD covers etc

Anyone have an idea how to easily raise the actual seat to check under it

BTW -- I put 27,000 miles on this HHR & it is a GREAT vehicle --just need bigger & a 3rd seat
Thanks

Joe

Umm... not sure about this, but probably unbolting the seats and taking them out...

There's a thread here about that somewhere, easiest thing is to take the storage bins out - three screws under the tray over the spare wheel.

That is correct, found it out while trying to get to stock amp/sub location. Didn't find any treasure though.

Ok, here is what you do: You turn the car upside down and shake it really hard. Everything under the seat will fall out. It really works.

I thought I was going to have to do that last week. I was removing the console to get the shifter reassembled, and the screw from the bracket that holds down the front and rear halves of the console dropped down a small hole into a cavity formed between the bracket that holds the airbag control box and the transmission tunnel that it's welded to. Looks like a fiendish designer had put that hole there deliberately, it has no other use. Fortunately I had a pickup tool consisting of a magnet attached to a steel flexible on the end of a long handle, I thought that there was no chance of fishing it out, usually the magnet just limpets to the nearest panel, but it came out first time. This was at the end of a frustrating day with about an hour spent with one hand wedged under the console.
Much better than the time I dropped a bolt down the headers we were fitting to a friend's car.

Just wanted to resurrect this dead post. Found it when I did a quick google because I wanted to clean out underneath those seats due to me trading my car in today.

Amazingly I found a bank money envelope with $1,200 in it. Ever since I got this car, I've had a real bad habit of throwing things on the seats and then folding them down to let the dog ride with me in the back. I remember when I lost that envelope 3 years ago. I got the money out on a Friday for a little road trip with the wife and dog. I don't know why I would have laid it out on the seat like that, but it was a hectic day, so who knows what was going through my mind. I honestly thought it was in my back pocket when we got to our destination. I scoured the car, and then ultimately chalked it up to me losing it at a rest stop or something. And I also found the cell phone I lost 2 years ago!

Anyways, more down payment on the next car. The HHR has been great, but with 174,000 miles on it, I'm starting to have to put more and more money in it on upkeep, so it's time to go. Thanks for the suggestion to take the storage compartments out of the back!
