Using the net to make your purchase

Using the net to make your purchase
The last 3 vehicles I've purchased I done via the internet. I've used it for research, shopping, dickering, etc. It has made what used to be a painful process into a pleasurable one. I don't think I've spent more than an hour each to purchase any of these vehicles. The HHR was the best by far. I was out of the dealer with my new truck in 45 minutes!
So I'm wondering how many others use this great tool to the extent that I do. I assume most of you do since you're obviously internet-abled. But then I think about people like my wife who, though computer savvy, just seems to love the face-to-face, haggle-till-you-drop process.

That's how I got mine. I'm in South Carolina and when I was looking I could not find a Daytona Blue with the manual anyplace. Went online to a local dealer and they found it in Miami and brought it before I ever even went into the dealership. Didn't even charge me for the trip they took. They were the only dealership close to me that even tried so they got my business.

Me too. Got a pretty good discount on my SS off the sticker, about $2500.
Got a quote online from the dealer, and found the best loan rate that way too. Had the deal pretty much sewn up and just went in to sign the papers and drive away. The last new car I'd gotton was a '93 Ranger 4x4 (still have it) and I bought it over the phone. Internet was in infancy then.
If you walk in cold you'll either leave without a car, or you'll pay sticker. The internet is a car buyers' friend.

Me three! Back 2 years ago that was the only way to get them to give a discount. Otherwise, most paid full sticker price. You new HHR owners are so lucky! Wait, I've enjoyed driving mine longer. Guess I am the lucky one!

I made initial contact via the net, but negotiated in person and on phone calls (played hard to get and they called me) over period of a week.
However I did the entire deal on the wife's new VW Beetle via net due to sourcing the car at a dealer that was five hour drive away. Negotiated the deal via phone calls and put down the deposit via credit card over phone.

I found my HHR on the net and went to the dealer to seal the deal.
My last car, Dodge Magnum, I bought online from Iraq and they had it waiting in my mother's driveway when I came home on leave. She had a power of attorney so I never even met the dealers that sold it to me.

+1...found the only hhr fully loaded with sunroof and leather in about 100 miles on the internet. Went to dealership seen it, then to bank cashed in my CD back to dealership paid it in cash. I was 21 years old at that time. Most likely the biggest check I will ever write, $23,000 including taxes

I got my SS by researching and shopping around also. By the time i went to the dealer I knew more about the HHR then the salesman and manager. I even found my own financing, had my GMsulpplier discount code, and GMrewards points from my GM card. Along with the current incentives I pretty much raped the dealer and they could either accept it or not.
The Manager didn't like me too much because I had a rebuttal for everything. I haven't been back there since the second visit. (Don't even get me started on that.) Do your research, and don't settle, you'll be happier in the end. The net is great!
