Vitriol killed the Radio Spar

I got my HHR in 2006. dealer incentive was XM Radio. Radio worked fine UNTIL I discontinued XM radio service. Your're gonna love this. The radio shuts off as if someone hit the mute button OR like when the radio shuts off after awhile after you shut down the engine(like sitting in the parking lot at werk, listening, waiting till you have to go in). When this occurs the only "band" that werks is the XM radio sample band. I haven't been to the dealer yet hoping you folks had the cheaper answer.

If your ride came XM ready, it wasn`t a dealer incentive, it was free from XM for three months.
What do you mean, cheaper answer?

You're not going to find an answer that is cheaper than taking the car to the dealer and having the problem taken care of under warranty. Like BB said, the XM was provided by them...the dealer just promoted it. If they told you they were providing it free, they obviously misinformed you.

The radio is covered under the warranty and they should be able to correct the problem. If they can't, they should replace it with a new one.

by cheap answer. I meant that any time I go to the dealer, It always costs so very much ...I had hoped that an owner might have experienced the same problem and knew of an alternate solution.

But how? If the car is still under warranty there is no charge to the owner for the repair.

To save the battery the radio shuts down after about 10 minutes if the car is not running.

Also do you have the controls on the sterring wheel? Maybe you have hit those buttons in error, someone else on here kept doing that,

The owner said "as if" and "or".

Could you help clarify your problem? My take on your posted scenario.....

You discouninued XM, correct? And when you did that affected the rest of the radio as well?

Please clarify!

I was seriously considering buying a portable XM radio and transferring my service to that unit. It's too expensive to drive around listening to MLB baseball games. I want to be able to bring the radio into the house or the office.
