Warranty Question
When I bought my car in April with 34,500 miles, I was told I didn't have a warranty. I know about the 3 year/36,000 mile. But I read somewhere on this site about a different warranty that covers paint? The reason I ask is I just noticed a spot on the roof of mine that is starting to bubble...

Someone might be able to give better detail but this is what GM has listed for 09.
Corrosion Protection
GMC vehicles are designed and built to resist corrosion. All body and sheet metal components are warranted against rust-through corrosion for six years or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first. Application of additional rust-inhibiting materials is not required under the corrosion coverage and none is recommended. See your GM dealer for terms of this limited warranty.
I am not sure what is covered on paint. As it is if it is rust which it could be on the roof since it is not a galvenized metal you may get some help?

hyper6 yes there is the "rust" warranty that covers rust THROUGH (holes), but that is very rare these days... I highly doubt that bubbling paint will not be covered, although I hope I am wrong.
Maybe Chevymgr can pipe in?

It's not covered by the "Rust Through" warranty but it wouldn't hurt to take it to the dealership and ask if they would offer some goodwill repair on it. They might help unless it's apparent that it's been painted before, but if it was painted at a dealership for a warranty condition they might lean more to taking care of it. Give me your last 8 of the VIN so I can check your warranty history.

Paint bubbles= rust!
I just brought my 07 in to the dealership because of paint bubbles on the bottom of the doors (inside). The factory warranty will only cover rust through and not surface rust but this dealership said they would rather fix it now than wait and have to replace the whole door. All the the doors, including the lift gate had what looked like paint runs along the lip. I scraped them with a fingernail only to expose bare metal. My car has 67,000 miles, so I thought they would deny me any help. So, just a heads up to check your doors for paint bubbles!
