I drove a 2011 Aveo LT as a rental-10,000 total miles. Took it 80 miles total. We thought it felt like it was a 100,000 mile old car. Buzzy engine, slow, horrible cornering, horrible braking, horrible interior... just... an awful car. It felt like it was ten years behind the curve. The HHR is absolutely NOT the worst mistake GM has made.

HHR Calendar Year Sales:

Calendar Year U.S. sales
2005 41,011
2006 101,298
2007 105,175
2008 96,053
2009 70,842
2010 75,401

I would consider this a descent production run, to say the least.

Colorado Sales:

Calendar Year Colorado Canyon Total U.S. sales
2004 117,475 27,193 144,668
2005 128,359 34,845 163,204
2006 93,876 23,979 117,855
2007 75,716 20,888 96,604
2008 54,346 14,974 69,320
2009 32,413 10,107 42,520
2010 24,642 7,992 32,634

I believe the trend speaks for itself. The Colorado when it was fresh and new was a hit especially when it replaces the S10, then the demand petered off-still not a failure. That just happens.

To say that the HHR was THE weak link- are you insane? It is absolutely the most versatile CAR in its class. It is only similar to a PT Cruiser if you're a run-of-the-mill blanket statementing AUTO RACIST THAT IS HALF BLIND! They hardly look alike. Someone said it was an exact copy... REALLY?

I don't know why I care. I guess I care because people read this garbage and when you hear them babbling around the office like they know any freaking thing about automobiles, all the morons do is regurgitate whatever quotes these pathetic writers said verbatim.

It makes me want to headbutt a fistful of Parker Pens dipped in battery acid.

Sooooooo similar!

I do wish Bryan Nesbitt would have done a third design that was similar..... Shoot me but I do like the PT design, I like the HHR much better though and always wondered what he would do third time around.

When I got mine I was looking at both the PT and the HHR. I found "The Wagon" first and dropped the cash.

^ Well, he's still working for GM. He's in Shanghai now, though, I think. I like your train of thought, though. The 3rd time is the charm???

Yeah, he's CEO for Chevy China or some such..... Doubt that gives him much time for design of retro-rods.

I first saw the PT as a Concept Car at the Chicago Auto Show.

It was a concept car they actually Made and it was out the following year.
Thats pretty rare, as Concepts pretty much stay concepts and it was pretty much as it was shown, Killer looking.

And I Loved it. But at the time I was working in the Trades in Commercial construction and carried alot of tools, I also was doing alot of sidejobs at night and on weekends so I Needed my Astro van to carry tools and materials.

The PT was based on the Neon in size and we were a 2 car family so I had to keep my Astro for work as the PT was just too small for my needs at the time. And it was a Chrysler, I do Love my Chevys.

I have had my fair share of cars other than Chevys, But I do prefer them. The others were just Beaters in my eyes.

Anything I am going to put any effort into is a Chevy 100% of the time.

After my work injury, I was ready to Downgrade my cars size as I would no longer be doing construction work.

I looked at the HHR Panel and knew I had to have one in Black.
I still like the PT's, but the Chevy wins in my book as I was planning on working on it and not just driving it.

I too would like to have seen a second generation HHR unfold and see what they would have looked like, I like the PT's more rounded fenders, wish the HHR's had them without the flat wide area they do have.

Remember, without the PT Cruiser, there would not have been the HHR, I was surprized GM took so long to come out with it, they lost sales, as the PT was established and popular for several years.

But I guess the HHR is the second generation in a way.
