As soon as i can find someone to do a stainless steel weld. Im hoping that is all it is.

Is that the same muffler guy that can't weld stainless? MIG or TIG in most shops I've seen.

Ill be honest I don't know anything about welding. It was a private individual I had do it first time.

A oxy-acetylene weld would not do it but just about anyone that calls them self a welder and has a tank of gas and a machine can weld stainless.

I prefer to TIG weld stainless but it can be gas welded.

If the weld is solid but has a few leaks you can put a band clamp on it...

It depends on where the leak is.
Band clamps only work on straight pieces of pipe, not bends.
Stainless is a word used loosely.
High grade stainless needs to be welded properly. Real stainless won't allow a magnet to stick to it because it is not ferrous.
Exhaust systems are a lower quality stainless that can be welded with mig/tig or oxi/acetylene with the proper rod.
