What Did You Do To Your HHR Today?
Oil/Filter change at the 55% mark. Old oil looking a bit darkish, but not too bad at all.
Inspected the air filter - still looked super good.
Replaced the MAP sensor finally - now that is one easy job while the filter housing is removed. Hopefully that will resolve the VERY intermittent P0106 code, and the related T/C issues.
Pulled the grill and recoated the bars with flat black Plasti-Dip.

Went for the Tuesday drive up to Hamilton for Sweetie's weekly checkup, her blood numbers and her kidney and liver numbers have greatly improved, she's at day 82 since her stem cell transplant and the doctor reduced her medications for now!!
More news next Tuesday!
The HHR had a wierd alarm in the drive, when I got up to the top of a hill and stopped for a traffic light , the DIC lite up and a message breake fluid came on for 5 seconds and went out!
It did not reoccur during the drive, I'm ordering up new brake pads and shoes today, and I'll be draining out the old brake fluid and replacing with fresh brake fluid!
I found no leaks last week when I put the new tires on but the brake pads seemed worn but still a 3/32 or so from the squeal springs on the inner pads.

SS Fan - another addition to the family!!!! Cool. Got a name for him/her?
Today, pulled the starter and replaced it with a new ACDelco starter. A 45 minute job taking 2 hrs due to neighbour dropping by to chat.
Old starter started making a very weird noise on Saturday or Sunday a couple of times. Checked it out Monday, and noticed that as it cranked, the gas gauge flew to the bottom of the gauge - weird lights out on the dash etc - we got a short happening folks. Had wife crank it over while I stared at the starter - we got a short and a small bit of SMOKE coming out of the rear of the housing. Grabbed a new starter Monday evening and replaced it Tuesday morning. Pretty easy job once one disconnects the neg post of the battery, jack up the drivers front corner, a 15mm socket on an 1/2" drive extension took care of the mounting bolts, a 13mm socket removed the nut holding the power connectors, and an 8mm wrench used to remove the trigger cable. Pulled the old starter apart - found the brushes totally done and lots of gunk built up around them. It's toast. Starts much nicer now.
