What Did You Do To Your HHR Today?
1100 mile trip summary
Rested today after 11+ hour return yesterday from SoCal. DIC read 30.5mpg average 58mph over 1100 miles total.
Had one opportunity for a speed run at 110 it was still pulling.
The RF wheel bearing is annoyingly noisy. 12 Pack of Bleu will start that job...
An excellent question... Yes, now.
In May I tried a new mechanic, one I had used happily years ago for Hondas. I hadn't realized they started doing domestic cars too. So I tried them out for my suspension clunks.
I was busy and didn't check here like I should have, and they let the parts databases (still wrong) guide them, so no, I did not get the correct LCAs.
They clearly needed changing as even the incorrect parts made the car drive better.
But 8 months later I think the stress of ill-fitting parts caused both struts to fail.
The mechanic had been bought by some younger guys since then, but they honored all warranties and in fact really went to bat for me once I showed them the sticky parts thread here.
They pushed all those parts back on the parts shop, got all new FE5 stuff, and put it all on. No charge to me in the end.
So I'm not a big fan of the old owners (and was kicking myself for not asking the right questions), but a big fan of the new owners and their "make it right" attitude.
I plan to go back to them for brake pads and a tranny mount has a crack, they deserve to have my business for a while!

My new hatch lift supports arrived today. Had them put on in about 10 minutes.
The old ones wouldn't lift the hatch that last inch or so. Along with my car being lowered, I was getting tired of bumping my head !
Thank's Rockauto for getting them delivered 3 days ahead of the quoted arrival time.

This morning changed out the oil cooler o-rings.I've done harder jobs but still a PITA.
Now to see if the oil leak is fixed. Time will tell.
Back to the grille!
Thanx again for all the help, advise, encouragement and how-to's.
