She has volunteered to pay for it.

My son and I are donating the shop and labor.

She visits every other weekend and has helped us out a lot when she is here, so I don't mind.

We picked up the car from another state last year since it was rust-free.

It had 150K miles on it when the failure happened.

She intends to keep the car for at least several years, so I am probably going with the lower mileage engine.

Since the engine will be out, I am going to replace all wear items (sway bar bushings, end links, etc).

Buy the engine with the most signs of wear on oil cap and the dipstick handle.

Today I decided to change out the brake fluid. Wondering if DOT 5.1 would cause any problems. I make some hard stops sometimes, so I like the udea of the higher boiling point, as well as the othet favorable properties. I'm aware that the 5.1 costs much more, and that DOT 5 is a no go.

Well, back on July 3rd I replaced the master cylinder on our 2010 SS (as I stated in previous posts above). The pedal would sink down low sometimes and replacing the master cylinder fixed it.

NOW, the pedal has suddenly started to sink low again and feel spongy and slow to stop.

No fluid loss anywhere. The only thing it could be is the MC again.

I bought the NEW Raybestos MC from Rock Auto that I installed in July. Looks like I got a bad new part.

This time I am going to buy the AC Delco part for more money.

Fingers crossed, it’ll cure the problem. Steve.

Today was the drive to the hospital for #8 radiation treatment. A smooth ride , no clunks or rattles, steered straight, no pulling left or right. Ah, a few hours changing the steering rack and intermediate shaft resolved my issues.

Today, I cruised on over to visit fastsuv , we investigated the replacement engine for his daughter’s 2011. Everything’s good to go. FMG’s SS still looks brand new. A good visit.

Got a new set of Falken tires. Replaced the steering shaft and the rubber boot was a bugger to get into place. After all the front-end work, still have that (knock knock wobble knock) sound going over railroad tracks and bumpy roads. When I get the front-end alignment done, I’ll have them check it out. I believe the only thing left is the steering rack.
