Mounted full size spare on homemade bracket in van, pulled oddball tire off car for storage (I had needed a replacement quickly after a blowout-no matching tires available-put a unidirectional among the Firestones), rotated and reset the TPMS. I was about to change the oil, but realized I had nothing but dino oil on hand. Oh well, I'll do that next weekend; it's too hot to clean up and get some more supplies and start over. I'm getting too old for this ....

No photos yet, my wife has all the cameras with her on a business trip (besides, I'm not finished with it yet). What I've got right now is made from odds & ends. I used a leftover 1" square U-shaped shelf bracket 30" long. It already had three 1/4" holes drilled in it... one on each end-1" from the end- and one in the center of the bracket. The bracket is mounted along the passenger side rear'just above the top of the C-shape molded in the fenderwell (never used it to reposition the battery cover) in my panel in this fashion: (a) one end has a 1/4"x 4" long J-hook attached to the unused square hoop on the front on the fenderwell, fender washer and nylok nut to secure to the bracket, (b) the other end is secured to the upper plastic ring mount by the hatch door (remove the 6mm bolt and replace with a longer 3" bolt), fender washer used here again ( I am relying on the factory nutsert to hold it, not really load bearing-just intended to hold the tire/wheel upright), and (c) a 1/4" carriage bolt (secured with nylok and fender washer to bracket) in the center hole (about 6" long if outside of wheel is facing out, about 12" if reversed), rotate wheel until carriage bolt goes through a lug hole) add washer and wingnut, and tighten all three bolts. I rotated the tire towards the front because I wanted more than 1" clearance from the rear hatch. I am not going to strap it down in any way; I want to test it's stability "as is" before I modify it. I think the rear attachment to plastic is the weak spot. If it holds, the way I have to play dodge'm in traffic, then no mods needed.

I agree the plastic will be your weak spot. To go after the custom install I see in my head I'd have to cut the plastic if I wanted to stand it up like that. There's some electronic stuff back behind there too I believe......
I'm gonna be mounting a custom wheel too, so no turning it around..... Gotta be show side out.
