What kind of car did you give up for your HHR?

My HHR replaces a well used and abused 1995 Astro van. My kids learned to drive in it, and drove it to high school, *****ing about it every day. We used it as a family car and pickup truck. We drove that old dog everywhere in the eastern half of the country, from the U P of Michigan to Key West, Hilton Head; and Washington DC 3 times in the last year. But with 197,000 miles and every small part falling off the car, it was past time to retire it. By comparison the HHR has no towing capacity (which I rarely used anyway), can actually be steered, and uses about 1/2 as much fuel. And it looks cool....

A 2006 Hyundai Sonata. Very reliable car, great MPG, but BORING and no soul, and lots of little annoyances that got on my nerves. I rented an HHR in California a few months back, took a drive on the PCH down to Laguna Beach and fell in love!

gave up a 96 firebird. Great car but with an 18 month old and another on the way, needed something more practical. Biggest reason was I was fed up with repair shops ripping me off. figured it was cheaper to pay new car payments.

I had a 1996 Dodge Grand Caravan with 276,000 miles on it. I was looking forward to reaching 300,000 when it got caught in a hail storm. State Farm offered me $6000 for the car so I gave it to them and bought the HHR. I was hoping to get a smaller car with van like qualities plus better gas mileage and that's what I got. So far, except for wearing of the paint in the rocker panels I'm very happy with the car.https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/imag...icon_thumb.gif

97 v6 firebird
I gave up a 97 firebird, which i loved, but with too many problems/leaks on the junkyard motor that i put in myself, i figured it was time, 140k on it and it still ran pretty well for a 3.8L. Will miss it, but looking forward to having fun with this car. At least parts for this car are easy to find

Sold my loaded Extended Cab 1997 rust free GMC Sonoma SLS ZQ8.
It was a great truck. I hate the new Colorados and Canyons. I Don't mind the 5 cylindr but the interiors are horrid.
The first guy who looked at my truck a few hours after I put for sales signs in it bought it for $5,500 with 100,000 miles on it.
Years ago was on the cover of the Summit Racing Catalog with John Linginfelters Pro Stock pick up truck. My 15 min of fame. I was in the picture so I can at least add modeling to my experience. [A day in the photo studio is always better than a day at my desk]
I still have the original centerfold poster photo of his truck. I was able to spend some time with John later and got him to sign the photo. Along with a cover of the Catalog.
John was a great guy to bad we had to lose him!
