Stepped down then up to HHR

In 2003 I found a used late 2001 PT Cruiser with 13K and traded my BELOVED '96 Riviera... super charger & all forthe PT. What a Change.. I usually drove my '01 Cherokee for work and I played with the PT, really liked the retro look and in fall of '05 at 35K, invested in a "P-Teaser" full grill & valence. One week later a school bus tried parallel paking and backed into the new installation taking out the grill, hood and a few internal supports and cooling parts. While waiting on repairs I spotted the new Chrysler "Calibre" and after a few test drives and procrastinating until April 06, I made up my mind and was driving to the dealer to pick up my new calibre when I passed the Chevy dealership with a BRIGHT RED HHR parked out front. Two hours later I no longer had a PT, but was 1of 2000 exclusive owners of a new HHR "Spring Edition". I was very proud of the fact that I had a VICTORY RED HHR that stood out from any standard color HHR.
Only immediate problem was... the wife had no problem knowing where I was at.
Three years later... a lot of red HHRs but that Spring edition trim still stands out.

i gave up the truck ive always wanted...
my beloved 2004 silverado quad cab 1500...
5.3 vortech with dual electric cooling fans, aluminum headers, throtel body spacer, aem brute force intake, optima battery, edelbrock shocks, front and rear sway bars, true dual exhaust with flowmaster mufflers, remote start alarm, dvd entertainment center, pioner head unit with i pod hook up, dual 10 inch ktm subs and amp...
im sure i had more into her but im finding the list hard to recal...
i loved that truck but found it just un practical for my lifestyle... i needed something more fuel efficient... but refused to drive something that wasent unique... so when i saw the black hhr panel truck waitintg for someone to take her home... i had to have her...
ive dumped a ton of visual mods into her including a rear seat install from a totaled LT1... i got an eibach pro plus kit on order and a cgs intake...
i love my HHR but i sure miss my silverado... and the horsepower... wish i had the cash for an ss... but life goes on..

Gave Up 1992 Ford Explorer, beat up beyond belief, with 208K miles. Bought it when our oldest daughter was only 18 months old. She is now 18 YEARS old and has a younger sister.

It was definitely time to get something smaller and more fuel efficient. Just took it for a little summer evening cruise along the waterfront. Liking it so far on Day 1!!!

I didn't give up anything, I just went out and bought the HHR. Now I have 4 cars. The HHR is the 50th car I've owned since age 16, and that does not include motorcycles. I still have my first motorcycle, and the car I drove in High School...well, one of them!

I gave up an 05 Ford Explorer Xlt V8. It was pretty powerful for a suv, but it sucked up the gas. only 14 mpg. Every single one of the hub assemblies decided to go bad at 100k. Even though my better half works for an auto parts store, and a friend does the labor, they were still going to be 150 each even with the discounts. Not to mention it needed brakes and spark plugs and all that jazz. The front fog light was busted too. AND then, the transmission was going, fast. Then, I had a baby, and decided I didn't have the time, energy or money to put into that piece of crap, and I got my lovely HHR.

I traded my 21 year old 1988 BMW 325i that I owned for 12 years, it had 190,000 miles on it. I got the $4500 CFC allowance, far more than I could have sold the car for...

I traded in my '05 Ion and my '95 SC2. I've owned nothing but Saturns since 2001. This is only my second Chevy - my first was a Chevette! I'm lovin' the HHR.

Handed down my '01 Dodge Stratus ES to my son when I got my '09 HHR SS. The ES model has decent power (200HP 2.7L V6), but it can't keep up with the SS.
