We, well the wife really, traded in our 04 PT 5 speed. Nice car when it was new. Took a side impact at 15 months. Only had 85,000 when we traded it, as other said, needed tires soon, 4 wheel brakes in the near future & probably AC repair sometime in the next year. Add it up, new car time had arrived. She wanted a another PT or a Caliber, I wanted, but could not afford a Buick. The HHR was a left over 09 LT1, dealer had two, one Goldmist/Dark Cashmere, one Aqua Blue/ Black. The Blue one resides in our garage. It has the 2.4L, an upgrade worth owning.
After a month & 2250 miles she loves the HHR, I wish it was a SS.

on your new purchase. I currently own a Caliber, wife likes it pretty good. I did at first, then the problems started(first year model blues). We got them all ironed out now, and really like it. I must say the HHR is my baby though, lots of room, wish it had better performance(2.2L), but all in all a great car. 8-D BTW,

Traded one of the best cars I've ever owned (as far as dependability) my 1992 Infiniti G20 2.0 5spd. Had the SR20DE engine all the "ricers" would love to have in them. Super stout, plenty of pep,and it didn't have a governor on it! Took a many wannabe racers to school in their dressed up toy cars with it... hitting their limits or governor and me just in 4th gear.

The ole gal gave me many trouble-free miles and took me to a lot of places. Ended up with just over 213K but 5th gear synchro was shot(common problem), electric parts starting to fail here and there, and it wasn't the biggest car on the road. (We have a 9mo old and the carseat took up a lot of room as well as forced me to sit further up... I'm 6'2 / 280 so all the way back I'm barely comfy as it was).

It was my daily driver... great on gas 28/32+. I had a 03' Nissan Xterra SE 4x4 that once I got home with the HHR decided to sell it as well. Still owed a little on the Xterra and didn't want 2 car payments and the Xterra only got 16 mpg city or hwy and we travel a bit as well as I have to drive a lot for work so mpg is important. I do miss it though because I mow a few yards on the side and my mower alone is just over 1600 lbs plus the trailer so tugging it with the HHR is out. So I use an old beater Nissan truck to tow with now.. No A/C.. Pwr Steering.. or Radio. Oh well, it's just for mowing trips.

I had an 03' Chevy Xtreme S10. It was sweet, I had it lowered 2/3 and it was nice but I had a son and there was no space for a car-seat. So I picked up the SS and I love it!!

Car before HHR was a truck.

I gave my son my "92 Chevy 1500 Silverado extended cab 2wd with a V-6 5-spd manual tranny drive train. It was a pretty good town truck and always got at least 20 MPG on regular around town, and better on the highway. I walked into the dealership where I bought the truck, and told my salesman that I wanted another new one just like the old one. Very oddly, Chevy had discontinued that engine tranny setup and gone pretty much to V-8 automatic large cab pickups. I looked at the fuel economy numbers and planning to commute a 90 mile round trip daily, decided to pass on the pickup.
Chevrolet had a decent truck with the V-6 5-spd 2wd setup. The front end had a cowboy cadillac interior with air, cruise, tilt, and a cushy ride. The back half worked just fine for lumber, firewood, camping, and moving all the stuff that just won't fit in cars. And it was big enough to deter the idiots who agress against small cars. If they had any sense, GM would offer a small diesel that got 30+mpg in the 1500. But no. Some Einstein conjured up the Pontiac Aztec, and for that alone, they were doomed to go bankrupt. ;-)

This car was my 1st real car, before that it was the 2nd family hand-me-down car which was a 2001 Chrysler Cirrus.

I was driving by the Chevy dealer when they had a Blue HHR on the lot. I had never seen the car before so I pulled in (it was after hours) and checked it out. Absolutely loved it and then a year or so later I got a black one just a little over 1 year used.

Great flexibility and mileage with this car, above average factory stereo. A little front clunk/rattle and a my water bottle leaving stains on the grey fabric seats are my only issues in having it for 3 years... that's very good!
