What is redline RPM for stock 2.4 ?

Thanks Everyone for input.
Thanks Snoopy,
Heres the deal: From slow rolling start I mashed the pedal in "D" Drive & it downshifted (itself of course) & accelerated.. I kept the pedal matted & noticed the tach reaching 6500..
When I saw this & felt NO rev limiter kick-in I lifted, cause it felt like it could have revved higher..
So I don't know how fast it would go in OD @ 6500. & don't need to find out. Besides there is likely a MPH limiter on it also.. IIRC 115-118 mph ??
All I know is I was surprised to not hit the rev limiter before 6500rpms. I was guessing 6K would have been the limit. (as I've said) & I was wrong.
And the tranny shifts just fine during regular & spirited use. This was just some testing....
Kevin- I did not have time today to test the rev in neutral.. But I will..
Actually Sleeper, I think everyone is confused about their advise, if you are speaking of the actual rev limiter.
You spoke of having the car is drive and accelerating hard, then noticing the shifts at 6500 RPM. The car is programmed to shift at a maximum of 6500. I think the rev limiter, which I believe cuts spark and limits fuel, is just slightly higher....and I mean SLIGHTLY.
When the limiter cuts in, you should notice a symptom of missing/hesitation. At least that is what happens in my other GM vehicles. Haven't had the HHR above 6500 (generally use Drive when accelerating hard).
JoeR is the person to ask about this. He's done extensive research on the programing aspects of this.

Limits
The 2.4l rev limit is 6750 for Auto/Manual. The auto has a limiter of 4000 in park or neutral, the manual does not. I got this info from stock auto/manual 2006 HHR tunes. Also the speed limiter is 107mph.

I can confirm hhrfreek's info.
To add:
1. 2.4 auto shifts at 6500. Ain't nobody come near that in OD; you were in 3rd.
2. SS is 6300. Auto shift rpms would be lower, but never did one.
3. Someone mention the Solstice 2.4. Its limiter is at 7000.
4. All these ecotecs use the same valve spring and valve train, other than better materials on the boosted valves.
I've been revving mine to 7200 for about 4-1/2 years now, 3 of them boosted to over 12 PSI. No issues and pulls strong to limiter.

Hey Joe, pretty sure it was 6,300+ rpm in OD at over 120 mph! Not very pretty as the HHR is kinda like a smoothed off brick .....
(our's also is Trifecta Tuned with the park / nuetral setting bumped to 6,500 and the speed limiter disabled, still guttless)
Peace ,

Man, you aren't a fan of what you've wasted all of your time and money on, are you? You have a couple not so nice things to say about your car.

At 6300 RPMs in 3rd speed should be about 122. (right about what you're talking about!)
At 6300 RPMs in OD (4th) speed should be about 175. I don't think so.

Just thought it shifted at about every 30 to 35 mph and I was hitting another gear ? Maybe this weekend I'll take it out and see were it shift's at .....
also Joe: If I was to have kept my foot in it would it have shifted into OD if your calcs are correct and then kept climbing?
Hold On ,

Well were back from a non-rush hour run and here's what our 1LT / 2.4 / HHR ran down the 580 freeway!
L1- 6,300 rpm / 40 mph / shift
L2- 6,300 rpm / 75 mph / shift
D - 6,300 rpm / 100 mph / shift
OD- 6,300 rpm / 120+ mph / holy *****.....
