what to use on running boards

My HHR has running boards with the black (plastic?) no skid top on it. I have used Armorall on the tires to make them shine, can it be used on the running board also? What does everybody use on them? Thanks.

I suppose you could use ArmorAll. I don't believe in that particular product because of the "oily" residue. I use Mequiars Tire Shine 'stuff" on the tires and the pads of the running board. For that matter, I use it on all the exterior black plastic/rubber.

I bought a product that is sold to detailers called Auto Lotion. It's a moderately thick liquid in a blue bottle. It's not greasy and leaves a very clean, factory-new look to non-painted plastic pieces (like the inserts on the running boards, window trim and weather striping, etc.). I like it because it does not build up, doesn't leave a slick finish and does not spot or spread if it gets rained on or rubbed up against. I use it on all the non-painted black plastic parts on the exterior of my HHR. I don't like the greasy, glossy black finish of Armorall on tires, so I use a matte finish protectant that deepens the color of the rubber to look more black and gives a nice finish without that glossy wet look.

Armor-All mine every time I do the tires which is at least once a week. I use the AA wipes, one for each tire, when done I use them again on the running board pads and the inner fenderwells.
