What were YOU doing 10 years ago? (HHR 1st on sale!)
Hard to believe its been ten years now since the HHR went on sale in July of 2005...went to look at the first one to arrive in NE Ohio back then, after seeing the concept drawings
Bought mine new the following July '06...
Were YOU aware of the HHR upon its release back then?

I was watching on TV the GM HHR build-offs, where GM gave 4 or 5 shops HHRs' & said go at it.
When I saw the one they made a Panel version outta, I said, if GM makes one like this I will be owning one. I lurked around this site thru 2006, & finally joined in Jan 2007, doing my research.
Then finally getting my '08 2LT Panel.. NO Regrets !!!

Back in 2006 (July?/Aug?) on a sunny Saturday afternoon, we were wandering around the local auto mall, and the Chev dealer had two HHR's on display, having already sold one of the three they had just taken delivery of. I had read a little about them previously and thought, cool, practical (ok, that's just me), and kinda cool.
We climbed into what ended up being ours and said sold!!! A few minutes after working out the deal, found a family climbing all over the interior - "oh, is it yours?" - yup, but feel free to check it out!!! (Probably could have charged them a few $'s for the pleasure). Watched the salesman lock it up, then returned and picked it up a couple of days later.
165,000 miles later - no regrets - a few "minor" problems but nothing major (ok, a tree falling on a car is not a fun experience to watch - $%^&*!!!) - gotten us through some nasty mountain pass snow storms (oh, look - another car in the ditch - oh, oh watch out for that spinning out semi!! Wow - that fence post went right through the fender of that Accord - hopefully the tow truck has a long cable, it's WAY off the road) and it hauls the big dog just fine, and the dog drool cleans up nicely off the back window.
It's a bit rough around the edges, but is kinda like your favorite pair of sneakers. Did I mention kinda cool?

Oh & before buying mine, I test drove many on any lot they would let me. Mostly wagons, but I kept my goal insight, didn't jump into the 1st panel I found..
Glad I took my time & did my research. I got what I wanted.
