What & Why Do We All Wish For Our HHR'S?
I know I wish for the 17" wheels or wish I would have bought the black SS the first go round when I could afford it. Now, there are folks with those nice wheels that wish they had my running boards.
What do you all "wish" you had for your HHR? I just think it's funny that we as people are never happy with what we have.

A chopped top like the So-Cal/Canepa/GM salt flat racer. Also, more power that is reliable, especially on the bottom end. And a less crusty ride. Oh yes, and more stain-resistant seat material! I figure I can get all of that for an additional $20k or $30k. God Bless, Marc

A lot of things:
1. A V-6 so that way there's no need for turbo. This way, you can have more power and torque. This would also mean putting in a tranny that can handle the V6.
2. True dual exhaust meaning two pipes coming from the engine with two mufflers.
3. All-wheel drive. Nuff said.
4. Dome light override switch (my lights stay on even with the doors open). There was a thread awhile back to address this but I can't remember offhand.
5. Full size spare tire and rim. I wish the well would hold up to an 18' tire with the same style rim as the others. That way, if you get a flat, you can just put on the other tire and rim and not have to worry about your speed. Now if someone goes and put 20's on theirs that's different.
6. Speaking of the rims, for the SS, make more clearance for rim despite the Brembo Brakes.
7. A true Pioneer Audio System. Putting a Pioneer Subwoofer in an HHR does not make it a Pioneer Audio System. Go all the way and do a Pioneer Deck, Pioneer speakers (at least two ways in the doors), and at least a 600 watt 5 channel amp. This way, it would be a true Pioneer Audio System. Oh, and another set of tweets high in the rear seat area. Deeper space underneath the seats that way I run an amp to my boxed subs from underneat the seat.
8. Bigger windshield. The windshield vertically needs to be higher.
9. GMPP intake Standard on the 2LT and SS Models. That plastic piece is not only not attractive but it makes it hard to get to the air filter. Now that chrome GMPP is the bomb!
10. More legroom and more rear cargo space. That way, I can put some subs in the back and still have good enough space to put some groceries. As a matter of fact, just have the space already set for a sub box (lets say a 12 inch flat space) then the rest of the space for cargo. That why I don't have to move my sub to get to my spare tire.
11. Bigger glove box. I need to store more than just the manual in the car.
12. Longer armrests.
13. Softer seats. My 2LT is not exactly uncomfortable but not the most comfortable. The cushion is kinda hard although the seat cover is very sturdy.
14. HHR Emblem in the seatcovers (SS Models would have HHR SS).
15. Lower chrome billet standard on 2LT and SS Models.
16. Front spoiler as an option instead of an aftermarket.
17. Four wheel disc brakes standard.
18. Headrests that are adjustable more than just up and down but front to back telescoping wise.
19. Flourescent headlights or HD lights and foglights standard.
20. More chrome on the inside regarding the chrome package. Chrome pedals etc.
21. Chrome HHR Emblems on the bottom door sills standard.
22. HHR Emblem on all of the all weather mats not just the front seats and cargo area.
23. Speaking of the floor mats, premium floors mats with the HHR Emblem standard on 2LT and SS (or HHR SS on the SS Models). Get rid of the basic floors if it's a 2LT or SS.
24. Change the classification from SUV/Truck to wagon because The HHR is neither a truck nor an SUV. It's a car. That would probably save some money on eveyone's insurance.
25. On models that have the remoter starter, make the two way advance remote kit standard and 2 remotes standard.
26. True Chrome wheels instead of polished aluminum or plastic rims. Also more choice on the type of rim. I prefer more of a "disc" rim that a "spoke" rim. Easier to clean and polish in my opinion.
27. Chrome stubby antenna instead of the fishing pole antenna.
28. Better tires than the firehawk tires.
29. Being able to put 235 60's on the HHR. That would make the ride even softer in my opinion especially when you have four people in the car and each of them are almost 300 pounds.
30. The ablilty to tow more than 1000 pounds on all of the models. I'm not saying that I want to pull a house but it does need to be increased. Also, the roof to be able to hold more weight especially if GM is going to put roof racks on it.
GM are you reading all of this? I'm willing to bet that if you take these suggestions and do them, that would help a lot of customers. I love my Blue Lightning!
I guess that a lot huh?

Hey Blue Lightning, I love the color of your HHR...it's what I wanted, but got a deal I couldn't refuse on Elvis. A couple of thoughts....
- The HHR underhood looks like it was intended to hold a V-6 if needed. There is a lot of empty space behind the engine. I guess the gas prices put that on hold. A Caddy 300+ horse V-6 would be a blast in an HHR. But then, it would have cost me more money and got worse mileage. I bought the HHR partly to save for my son's college. Otherwise - maybe a Hemi Challenger or a Caddy CTS wagon.
- I'm short, so the windshield works for me. A lot of times when someone chops a car's roof, they will lay the windshield back and it goes up onto the roof partly. That would work on the HHR possibly.
- I have the GMPP intake and love it. Others may not like the sound, so maybe it should be optional as they have it?
- Some of the space issues would have to be cured by making a bigger car, and I like Elvis the size he is.
- The headrests are the way they are because of the recent restraint laws. I don't like them either.
- The chrome clad rims are not plastic because the are cheap. They are plastic laminated onto the aluminum rims because the hold up to corrosion and abuse better than chrome plated alloy. The laminated chrome-clads certainly aren't cheaper to make. Check this out....

- Some of the other ideas you have sound cool, and can be added, so I guess GM leaves that up to the buyer. I added the '55 chrome script to my dash to add sparkle. I think the hood should have come with the old '50's style scripts.
Some of the other items you mentioned are great ideas, but would add a lot to the cost. I bought Elvis because I could afford an HHR. Every extra chunk of money leaves someone behind as far as affording a car.
Great post by the way! God Bless, Marc
