Whats that dreadful noise?

Hello all.

I've rented a HHR because I want to try before I buy. Everything pleases me about the car except for the hissing noise that occurs every time I turn on the signal blinkers. It sounds like speaker "white noise", even when the radio is not on. Anybody have this problem, or a solution?

Thanks.

I don't know about hissing but the turning signal can be heard through the tweeter regardless if the stereo is on or not.

I haven't heard of this issue myself, and this noise is separate from the crazy ticking some folks complain about with the blinker in general?

no hissing here either, maybe since it runs thru the tweeters the one you drove had some sort of grounding problems

No hissing on mine... just that "metronome" blinker clicky/ticky sound.

Just curious, could it possiby related to that radio "Pop" problem? (another GM software update?)

Wow! Metronome sound, eh? As a drummer that's got to drive you crazy!

(Drummer; "I HATE metronomes, those things are always speeding up or slowing down!")

Have had our HHR one week and we, too have the hissing noise when activating the turn signals. Problem comes and goes. Took it to the dealer while it was doing this and the service manager just sat there and scratched his head saying....hmmmm...that's strange, never heard this problem before. The noise is coming from the small tweeter speakers mounted in the roof posts on both sides of the windshield. Unfortunately the dealer's "best wiring man" was on a 4 day vacation, so will have to wait. Problem is, as random as the noise happens it's probably going to have to get worse/more consistent before they can find the problem. Whatever you do, don't hit the radio power button when it's "hissing"... the crack was so severe I thought it had blown the speakers...but turning on the radio stopped the hissing noise.

Actually, I'm probably one of the few HHR owners who likes/enjoys the blinker's "clicky-ticky" metronome sound. (weird huh?)
