I've found that the best way to stop any noises you dont want to hear is by turning up the radio to 45.Works everytime.

I haven't heard any hissing noises other than the loud clicking noise. I wouldn't think much of that hissing sound in a rental car. Afterall, it is a RENTAL CAR. Rental cars get beat up and knocked around. Basically one does to a rental car what one wouldn't do to their own car.

Again, it's a white noise hissing sound (same as the author of this thread noted) that occurs when activating the turn signals, not amplified "click, click, click" of when the turn signal is actuated. And the sound continues for a couple of seconds after the turn signal is turned off.

And I've found references to this same white noise problem on another HHR forum, even mention GM is aware of it..but obviously no way to verify this is fact.

Oh, I understand the hiss noise problem vs "click" sound... that was a reply to SoCal's comment.

Once again, sorry to say, I don't have the "hiss" blinker problem on my HHR, but if I did... make darn sure I'd be back hounding the dealership & or calling GM customer service for answers.

Thanks All

Well, I guess the Jury is still out on what makes the noise. I do believe the comments about wiring, etc. probably are close to the reason.

TxMan, you miss my whole point on renting the car. It certainly isn't beat up with around 1800 miles on it. I'm wanting to find the bugs prior to buying them. That noise could cost Chevy a sale, and force me to do another Durango, or something in that range. (of course , the gas issue wouldn't be solved that way). But I do appreciate your comments.
Thanks to all,
HR

I've only had mine for a few day's now and got the "Pop" from the radio once. Other than that I don't hear any odd noises like the hissing described above nor do I hear my turn signals in the speakers, as a matter of fact I can barely hear the turn signal click at all, it's very quiet.

The only reason I like the loud clicking is so that my wife knows I used the turn signals when changing lanes!!
