whats your actual city gas mileage
#22
I get about 26 in town. Mine is a 2.2 that's pretty good considering my old car got about 17. But it was a V-6. I don't miss it though, this car has a lot more style than my 01 Ranger. There's about 5 million of those around here and I've only seen about 6 HHRs.

2.4 auto, I do the math on each fill up. The lowest I remember was just under 20 and the best was 24.4. The DIC seems to be pretty close showing 22.2 right now. I was staying above 23 before the kids started school. But now, picking them up and dropping them off has increased city driving. Not to mention the horrible traffic around the schools.

Okay...that was gonna be my next question...how accurate is the DIC compared to calculating it yourself. Im gonna fill up tomorrow and set the trip and see what we get that way.
Side note....my Silverado has instant mpg on the DIC...wish the HHR did.

I have yet to take a trip so I haven't been able to check highway only miles.

Generally, the odometers mileage will be the same if you do the math yourself. But remember, gas pumped into the tank will not necessarily be equal to the quantity used in the algorithm of the DIC. To many variables are available to provide differences.....For example, if the DIC provided a display of "gallons used", and you filled your tank to this exact amount, YOUR calculations would agree with the DIC's indication of mpg.
