Just filled up yesterday with 420 miles showing on the trip and it took 14.2 gallons, that equals 29.5 mpg it showed 28.6 on my DIC. This id with 87 proof, with the 92 proof on trips, it has got up to 32 at 75 mph.
The highest I have had my trip up to is 440 miles.

I really don't track the difference between city and highway, but my average hovers around 30 with my 2.2 automatic, and it has almost 35,000 miles. I do keep it meticulously maintained, (tire pressures and rotation, oil changes cleaned air filter etc...) I do have a knack for getting pretty good mileage with other cars, my 92 Corsica work car with a 3.1 gets 27 miles a gallon with 140,000 miles and nearly thirty MPG in my 2001 Escort with a 140,000...man this family drives alot !!!

Im not sure what my actual city mileage is but for all of 2006 according to my fuel log expence book i have been averaging 28.3 mpg with roughly 60% city and 40% highway driving with just using regular fuel

My 2006 HHR now has just over 24,000 kms so im sure she is completely broken in now !!

I am getting 30.1 MPG combined city/highway driving. In the city, I never did any worse than 26MPG. I drive fairly hard, and when I took it easy(the first week I got it) I couldnt get above 23-24 MPG. So whoever said their wife putters around and gets 16MPG, please tell her to "pick up the pace".

After extensive testing I am completely convinced that the HHR gets better gas mileage when driven with a mild sense of urgency. Slow accelerations get worse MPG than quickly getting up to speed and maintaining that speed.

DIC said at last fill-up "506 Mile Fuel Range"

Just filled mine for the first time after one week of owning it.
All city driving and got 23.4 mpg. It has a total of 333 miles on it and took 14.2 gals to fill to overflow all over the side of the car. 2.4 2LT automatic.
My past vehicle was a 2001 S10 w/4.3 5 speed and got 22 mpg on trips and 15 city so a big improvement for me.

Getting around 24 mpg city driving. My daily ride has about 15 stop lights, every at every intersection for a few miles, plus stops to drop off the kids first.
