where are the running boards?

I have noticed most of the HHRs I see on the road and on dealer lots don't have running boards. Seems to be a bit of a rare option. I went by my local dealer and there were 9 HHRs on the lot. Only one had running boards, and it was the fall special edition. Most I have seen on the road lately are the same way. You would think with the known problems of sandblasting more people would want the protection, and dealers would want to install them to keep those who don't know about the problem from having to come back upset the side of thier car has no paint. In 2006 it was a dealer installed option. Is it still that way for 2007? Is there a shortage of running boards for the dealer to install?

Just pick up an 07 without boards. Asked parts department to order me the boards. They informed me boards are no longer available painted from the factory unless ordered with the vehicle. Only prime and dealer paint. Price quoted was $390 in prime. However, I did dealer search and found a set already painted in stock.

How did you do the dealer search? How much did they want paint and install...is install a DIY or does the dealer really need to do it?

I would never purchase a vehicle with out running Boards unless it was a Car, but then again I will never purchase a car again in my life time.

Talking gmpartsdirect.com

you can also try this link, to gmpartsdirect.com...
they have many of the colors available already painted, listed as 'to be discontinued'...
just choose 'chevrolet' and then your appropriate HHR details...

Are we in line for all new colors? Wonder why some are discontinued and others no?

actually, I think they are discontinuing all of them over time,
as they will start to be offered only in primer and then painted by the dealer...
