Now that you brought it up I remember those web strap handles in my Dad’s cars in the 1950’s.

Roy you are giving away our age here.

Oh Yeah! I had forgotten all about those things! Don't know that I ever saw anyone actually use them though?

In my business, we refer to those handles as "ass lifters"...you grab them to lift your ass into the seat. Seriously...I echo the sentiment of those of you who have suggested that if this is a make-or-break issue in your purchase decision, and everything else is good, then find a way to add them. I'm sure any competant custom shop can do it. Otherwise...I agree with Captain Howdy...what's the point of telling us this? If another car has what you want, then buy it!

In the meantime, I'll continue to lift my 58 year old ass in and out of my car without assist handles.

I've heard them called "Jesus handles".

The HHR sitting position is so upright, I can see why they didn't put the handles in. Besides there not being room with side air bags...

I'm 64 and weigh 170 and I don't have a problem getting in or out of my HHR. If I did I could always grab the edge of the roof. My wife complains about not having the handles, but she is the one that talked me in to buying the HHR.

I call them "oh Jesus" or "oh my god" handles!

My S10 has one on the passenger side, over the glove box, not on the sides like on my sister's Tahoe--and if you ever ride with my sister in her Tahoe, you are praying the whole time...

I agree with several others......who cares.

Besides, I tend to believe this is a troll post. The originator hasn't returned since posting.
