windows
Hey everyone. This is kind of silly to be bothered by but my driver side window likes to squeak when I roll it up . Did I quick search on squeaky Windows and got some posts about WD-40. Didn't want to go shooting WD-40 down my window lol might try stick butter? Should I use salted or unsalted?

First try cleaning the glass on both sides with a good quality glass cleaner, dirty glass can "catch" in the channels and make a squeaking noise.
If that doesn't quiet it down, get some silicone lubricant and carefully lubricate the channels with a rag. Don't spray WD-40 in the channels as it will possibly attack the rubber moldings and it will make a smeary mess on the glass.
I'd save the butter for toast and muffins.

Yes, the channels that run along the sides of the glass. If the glass is dirty or just a very tight fit, it will vibrate and produce a squeak or squeal as it raises and lowers. The channel is identified as part #5 on the diagram below, don't lubricate the felt strip the runs outside the glass at the top of the door where your arm rests with the window down...grease or oil on that will just make a mess.

The silicon spray lube does work well for this, after cleaning the glass, as was mentioned above.
It also is great stuff for your weatherstrips to keep your doors from freezing shut in the cold. That's what I usually use it for...

@tucsondivots, have you contacted your local Chevrolet dealership about this? I realize that many of you don't like to go to the dealership, but this might be something that could be covered under your new vehicle warranty.
