Thumbs down Wiper Delay

Whats the longest setting on your wipers ? I had mine to the longest setting today and it was only 6 seconds which seems useless to me. Each click on the switch reduced the time by a second. I have to believe that my timer is bad dont you think ? All my other GM cars have had 30-40 second delays on them .

Delay time is adjusted based on speed of the vehicle. Delay time will shorten as speed increases. Were you timing them while moving or while stationary?

I had read in the manual I think that like Tim said, delay is based on speed...

using the shortest delay will turn the wipers on at 50 mph and to delay below 50 mph

a 6 second delay in a light drizzle is useless as the windshield is too dry and the wipers just drag and make noise. I found myself doing it manually ever 20 seconds or so.

Put some RainX on the blades to keep the lubricated. The wiper blades on my hotrod are over 20 years old and still soft. I use rainX on the windshield and wipe the blades down with is a couple of times a year.

I'm not real impressed with the wiper system on the HHR. You have to go from the highest speed on the lowest setting to the lowest speed on the next level to speed them up just a bit. My minivan had one dial with about 10 different settings and you moved it one click to slow the wipers down a little. How simple!

Unhappy Re: Wiper Speed too short!

I'm really liking my 08 LT and can't wait for spring to put on my 18" wheels!
Anywho, I find the intermittent wiper times are WAY too short rendering them pretty much useless. I know about the speed-sensitive thing.....which actually makes the problem worse! My complaint is that the "base" times are too short. My 04 Monte Carlo would have a slowest time of about 40 seconds and you could dial up a shorter time if you wanted to. The HHR maxes out at about 10 seconds....which gets shorter as you speed up! Does anyone know of a way to lengthen the delay times? The rear wiper is even more annoying since it only needs a wipe every minute or two, not every 10 seconds! In all cases, I end up running the wipers like the ole' days, since the intermittent feature causes dry glass screach!

Krusty.
