I was looking and found the HHR had an option for a back up camera.
Never took the lift gate panel off to see if a harness plug was there for it.
I know when I installed the A pillar boost gauge in mine, the plug was right there.
If anyone has taken that panel off. Have you found a one ?
If so, I would think there are blanks to fill in on the fuse blocks plus other things to do.

I have seen the option but I've never seen an option for a navigation system that you would need for a display. As far as wiring, all you need is 1 wire from the back up light for power and a wireless module.

I guessing the review camera screen is built into the review mirror.
Of the many questions about repairing these cars nobody that I know of had posted anything about the factory back up system.

My 2011 has the provision to mount a rear view camera but no extra wiring in the lift gate.

I know about the spot for the camera, my 2010 has it too.
Have you taken off the lift gate panel to check ?

That’s how I know the wire harness is the same as my 2007 LS , nothing extra for the camera.

Yeah while there was some indication of a backup camera option available on the HHR, I have never heard of one that actually had it.
Other GM cars such as the camaro had the rearview mirror camera starting in 2012.

I think Silverfox had a 2011 in Mocha that had a rear view camera, maybe he’ll chime in here.

The backup camera option was only in the later years of production and was only available at certain times. Not sure if it was a production problem or low demand that caused it to be a rare thing.
When I was ordering my 2010, the camera option was listed on the build order sheet but was "Unavailable" at that time.
I don't think the stock wiring harness has a separate pre wired circuit for the cameras. I would guess the camera would have it's own pigtail harness that taps off an existing power source/ground.

Yep. Our 2012 Traverse has it there. I prefer that to having it in the radio. Even if it's smaller, it's a natural place to look...

Progress has taken us away from yet another intuitive system.
