Wiring Project

So, I am getting stationed in England, and my beloved HHR SS is going with me. So, I am currently undertaking some wiring projects to get her ready to go. Among many projects, I have to redo my hazard switch. I have a custom center console made by another member on here, that deleted the original switch. I already have a new switch mounted, and know exactly which wires i need to tap into, but I don't want to go cutting wires, I would much rather make up a female connector on the switches wires to hook directly to the stock wires. Does anyone know what type of connector it is (so I can look up a connector and pins to buy) originally on the back of the hazard switch? I know some years were different, mine is a 2008. I know it's a 4-terminal connector, and it's got pretty dang small wires in it (like 22g or so, might even be smaller), but I don't know the names of the different types of connectors GM uses. Anyone know?

okay, scratch that, it appears according the the factory service manual, the wiring in there to the plug is the female part of the connector, Delphi connector # 12089248, so I need the male counterpart, Delphi # 12089247. Anyone have any idea where i can buy one? googled it, and nothing comes up for places to actually buy them. I need to know there to get the connector body, and the pins to go inside it.

One of the vendors that my company uses for electrical connectors shows that Delphi part as available if we order a minimum quantity of 1,000. I've sent an e-mail to our rep to see if I can get one or two as samples, if I can get my hands on them I'll gladly send them to you.

Since the vendor is closed until Monday we'll have a wait until I hear back, but I will let you know if the rep can do anything for me. These are really cheap parts at 36 cents a piece, but we'd never use 999 of them in a million years.

hey, thanks! really appreciate that! yeah, according to the sites i found the info on, they are dirt cheap per piece, but i can't find anywhere that actually sells them. rather irritating for us DIYers. I guess at the very least if I could get ahold of the pins I could rig a couple scrap pieces of plastic to separate the pins and electrical tape it all together til I can get the connector, but that's a LOT of extra work. If that works out with your supplier, I'd gladly send you a few bucks for the trouble!

Use some t-taps on the vehicle side of the harness wires and then use insulated male spades on the hazard switch side. It will be easier to find the t-taps then this connector most likely.

The red one (sometimes sold in maroon) is the 22awg one that you would most likely need.

07, the wires truly are unbelievably tiny, and there isn't a lot of spare wire to pull out to work on, or much room back there for those connectors plus the spades to go into them. I am kinda OCD, and a total neat freak, especially when it comes to wiring, and I want this as streamline as possible. I typically solder and wrap T connections just to avoid t-taps. For instance, I bought a bunch of single-wire Weather-Pak connectors to make reversible harnesses to perform the side marker-to-turn signal conversion in another thread around here, rather than quick-splicing a wire across. I know, I'm weird, but whatever, I know I will never have a problem with it haha.

I already need some of those, though in blue, for another part of my UK conversion projects. Dang GM and their clever combining of brake and turn signal onto one wire...makes amber turns and no blinking brakes a difficult order. So i get to tap the rear turns off the front turns (t-taps), and brake signal off the 3rd brake light.

I know the wires are tiny but they are still no smaller then 22 or 24 guage and that is what these red ones are for. I do understand the ocd as I too can be that way. Here is a pic of them in use at the factory amp in my car. These are all the rca level amp inputs.
