I would not do it. Think about this $1000.00 Plus $100.00 every time you get work done. Put the $1000.00 in the bank and use it when you need it. If you don't use the money it's yours not someone else's. I bought a extended on my
S10 when I went from lease to buy and never had to use it. Cost me $1250.00 for nothing. I was out the money and they had $1250.00 of mine. The trouble with them is they paint a bad picture and we grab it in fear. They pray on fear and use it to suck money out of our pockets.

Extended warranties was discussed in another thread a while back.

BB you asked the same question and didn't get an answer then. If you are still interested try this link which was provided, in the above mentioned thread, by a member who, by his sign on name, appears to be someone who knows.

Karen....

Yeah, you are correct about the location of coverage and the difference policies that are available. You may also want to look at that link. It provides a quote box, which does give you an immediate quote....I used a ficticious name and phone number, plus an alternate e-mail that I use for these type of things....it just "dumps".

It's no longer called an "extended warranty". The legal term is "Service Contract", and us salespeople must use that term.

Why doesn't the coverage start at the end of the bumper-to-bumper? Legally is not an "extended warranty"; it is a "service contract" that is independent from the factory bumper-to-bumper warranty. If you want the coverage to start at the end of your bumper-to-bumper, you can just purchase it when that time comes.

I recommend the GMPP (General Motors Protection Plan). GMPP cost more because it has the best coverage and they have been around for over 75 years. You basically get what you pay for. Pay less with he other guys; get less. If the other guys belly up, you lose all of your coverage. I've seen it happen to people; very sad.

See http://www.gmprotectionplan.com/ for more info.

Coverage starts at the time you buy the warranty. You can wait till the 3/36 is almost up and still buy the warranty although I believe they reduce the max length you can get and the price of the warranty will go up, plus they will have to do an inspection of the car. If you ever sell the car before the warranty is up you can get a partial refund on the warranty.

I may have asked the same question, looks like you don`t have a legit answer.
I believe this is an open forum, I ask a question, maybe someone has the same, maybe someone has an answer.
I bought an EXTENTED WARRANTY, no fancy smancy term, I don`t see why they should overlap, on any thing.. A washer/dryer, a tv set/stereo, stove, or car.
The car comes with a warranty, why am I paying twice???

Touchy, touchy....BB, don't take it personal. I was trying to help.

But, maybe you should be asking YOURSELF, why you are "paying twice". After all, you did it . Kind of like the "running boards", you either bought them or you didn't

"Extended" could also mean to go beyond the regular coverage as specified in the documentation, to not necessarily mean additional time.
As to get more coverage, not to cover for a longer time period.
It might be spelled out in that little tiny tiny fine print.

Not sure how much more coverage you can add to Bumper-Bumper.
I think it`s a scam, and if you wait until the B-B ends, then they claim that time and wear/tear will void a lot of items.
6 in one hand, 1/2 dozen in the other...
Anyway, just food for thought, got it, done that...

For me the issue is after the bumper to bumber warranty ends.

With shop rates at $99 an hour and up, add pricey parts, and a "simple" repair can soon add up to lots of money. My 2001 Malibu (major POS) was a prime example that why extended warranties are useful - the only thing that didn't fail was the transmission - pretty much everything else was replaced, including the engine.

On my last vehicle I had I got the GMPP extended warranty for it. After the B-B had expired, the oil pan gasket went. $550 repair job. $550 that I did not have. GMPP warranty paid it in full, no cost to me other than the initial GMPP purchase cost, which was added to the original cost of the vehicle.
