Worth it to Trick Out a 2008 2.4LT w/50,000 Miles?

Apparently I've been living under a rock, thinking I could trade up my 2008 2.4LT at will for a new HHR (and only just realized production ceased in 2011)

I don't see anything out there comparable (appearance-wise) to the HHR right now, and so I thought maybe I could give my 2008 some love and enjoy it a bit more for as long as it remains a reliable car -

I don't want to completely trick it out, but ideally I'd like to fix the few shopping cart dings in the body and give it a 2-tone paint job for fun.

Any opinions on whether that's just a waste of cash? (I don't even know where best to go for this type of a paint job for an HHR).

Or would someone with a 2008 would be better off selling and trying to find a 2011 for sale as opposed to holding on the 2008 at all?

Any opinions or advice would be welcome (including if I should be posting this question in a different forum).

Thank you!

As an owner of 2 '09's , a panel and windowed version. I'd recommend having a good look around here at what is out there for "bolt on" appearance upgrades that suit your style like grills, lowering springs, wheels etc Figure out your budget and go for it.
Its your ride do what you like. Many here have photos of their rides you can see by clicking on the camera icon under their name.

I'd say go for it.
An 08 with only 50k? It's just getting broken in!

I'm in the same boat, well kinda. Mine's an 06 with 108k, but have the "personalizing itch".
Simply put:it's mine. I know it's mechanics. I'm comfortable with it. So, I make it "mine" by adding little things here and there.

Now, if you just like the HHR as they are, then you should feel comfortable with upgrading.
However, if you want something that's unique to your person, change up the one you got!

Nothing worse than buying someone else's "headache", and having to pour some cash into it, before you can enjoy it.

However, that doesn't seem to be the case with our vehics........

Does that make sense?

I'm thinking you are in the right forum. I have a couple of them, 50k is just long enough to see so if you got a good one. If you haven't had problems yet good chance you wont. You are right they aren't making anymore, that's why I plan on buying one more.. I would keep it and add that you like. But as you know I'm a fan.....

All a matter of personal preference...Id h ave no problem modding any high milage car that caught my interest...its all about being different or expressing yourself.

My 2007 panel with 260,000 miles on it is currently stripped down to a bare shell in preparation for a full custom paint job, new interior, and some other goodies as I think of them

So in my opinion Debora, forget the mileage and the model year and go to town on your 2008.

I did just that to my 91 ford ranger 10 years ago. It had 110,000 on it at the time. I repainted it and recovered the seats , door panels and headliner. Drove it another 100,000 before I traded for my 011 LT. I say go for it, and if you see me driving my white LT around Fresno say hi.

Hmmmm....Maybe an "Enabler" forum is in order, but then we'd need forums for "Codependents" and "Compulsive Oil Changers" too, where would it end?

Keep us in the loop as you "make it yours" Debora, and post lots of pics, we love pics here.

Yea, pics would be good to see of this. Fact is, IIRC you only have shown a pic of one.
