Have a chance to pick up an LS for about 4500. It is a 2007. I have a 2008 LT2 and love it ,but don't know if they hold up like Hondas and Toyotas when they load up with mileage. This car would be for my son to go to work and school. What are your opinions?

I say go for it! HHR's are good. Sure that's a lot of miles for a 2007, but my suggestion. Before you go buy it, CARFAX it. Sure it's $30, bur that's what I did for my HHR before I bought it. Totally put me at ease. You see all the oil changes, how many previous owners. Mileages, repairs, accidents, etc.

If it's just for a kid, I would think that's good. You probably wont find much for that price with less miles, and most anything you find again for that price will be fairly older.

My 06 has almost 104k and runs like brand new. Assuming it was properly maintained, shouldn't be an issue.

Not to mention, your son will have a blast modding it should he choose and keeping it looking good!

What color is it btw?

Most of the time, I don't buy a car until it has 135,000 miles on it.

Same here..... This is the first newer, low mileage car I've owned.

About the '07 135K car....... check all the common issues, brakes, front end clunking, struts, etc. Many of which may have already been replaced. The only "tricky" thing about a high mileage HHR would be some of the less than common electrical issues some have had..... those might be costly to replace/repair/sort out. If it's in the budget and you are not a mechanic, best to have one do a inspection and make sure he's well versed in these newer cars.....

Get a GMVIS report on it. It's more telling than a Carfax especially if the vehicle was regularly serviced by a GM dealer. You can get one here free but you may have to sign up to do so:
