Sorry to hear about your HHR, at least you're okay....... Sounds like the pickup truck had as much time as you did but a little more visibility so he had a chance to swerve that you didn't. Nobody uses turn signals in a panic maneuver.

Granted, they say you should never swerve as that is dangerous. But 95%+ of those on the road do it, with anything that gets infront of them, even a squirrel. Turn signals? Show me anyone that just got in an accident or avoided one that though, maybe I should use my turn signals,,,,,, No, they were thinking they needed to get in a different spot than what they were in, quickly. Lets be real here. Accidents suck, but 9 out of 10 times, they can be avoided. This one included. He admits he looked away from what was in front of him, when he looked back, it wa too late. He's ok, and that is the main point.

What would you have chatted about? If you followed me, it would be a short conversation as this retired vet has a permit to carry and you will not get in my face for any reason. So I'd watch following people.

Accidents suck, period. I actually had a deer run in front of me this morning on my way in, it's 5:30, dark, just turned off of a main road. I hit the brakes, and was hoping the idiot behind me was paying attention. I was trained years ago, don't swerve. Usually that makes the end results worse. When I see someone swerve, I always wonder why, before I watch where they went.

I agree, accidents do suck. Luckily I've never been involved in one other than someone hitting the back of a car of mine while I was stopped at a light, but if I'm at fault in a accident I'd know which way to point the finger of blame. Let's see, following a vehicle, it moves out of the way and you hit the vehicle that was in front of it???? The only sentiment that really should be expressed in this thread is thank goodness the the OP is okay......

as well as i do sir. and carry everytime i leave the house. if that was a concern i wouldnt do it. and its not so i do. as that would be the last thing i would reveal in a confrontation. some of us de-escalate conflict for a living. side note, seat belts and turn signals are used in all 3 of my cars or we aint going anywhere.:)

Same here, I've never had to pull my personal weapon for anything. Belts and signals used here also, but in a panic situation, I might elect to not use my signals....... But you will see my brake lights..... Just don't follow me afterwards and we're cool.

i understand that, typically i would never follow some one unless they put me or my wifes life in danger , other then that nothing gets solved

I am so glad I am not the only person who thought what solman did. We are glad you are ok, but be real. Regardless of what the person in front of you was doing/not doing, you rear ended a vehicle. It is your fault. Maybe instead of "he was probably not paying attention" the car in front of him stopped hard and he was in the exact situation as you, trying to avoid an accident.
