Wrecked It

Seems as though some people forget that physics play a role in stuff like this. No matter how close, or not so close you are to the car in front (because he didn't say) reaction times lessen the farther back you are. Maybe the truck had JUST enough warning and time to miss what ever it was which means he DIDN'T have enough time. It happens. I've seen it happen to someone and I've had it happen to me.
The gun stuff could have been left out. But hey pull one on me sometime. My 7th degree blackbelt training has me prepared for such stuff if the need shows itself.

I drive a 1 ton bucket truck, and my company drills defensive driving into my head. (Knocking on wood ) I've never been in a mishap in a work truck. As far as the company is concerned if I'm moving basically I'm at fault and will get a week to sit at home without pay. Following distance is key in the cages I have to drive. Now when I'm on two wheels I am safer if I'm moving through traffic because people don't see the scorched yellow bike for some reason. Bottom line ......I assume every driver around me is distracted at the least and out to kill me at worst.
A couple days ago while working 20' in the air I had a chance to see an asynchronous automotive reconfiguration performance between a teen in a murdered out, fart canned Honda and a simple silly babe in a cube. I saw it coming, knew it was avoidable, and knew it was still going to happen.

I know what your feeling, almost the same thing happened to me years ago. I wasn't expecting people to stop on a bridge because there is no stopping on the bridge.
turns out some lady was driving the opposite way in our lane because traffic on her side of the bridge was stopped.
I slammed on the brakes and rear ended the pickup in front of me coz he jammed on his brakes and i could not see if front of him.
The cop had to cite me but he only wrote a $10 ticket.
He understood the whole situation and the witnesses stayed there and boxed the lady in. but i was still at fault.
the guy in the pickup was pissed but i just told him I have insurance it will be covered. what else can i say?

It is kind of like the crashes on the freeway where one guy stops hard and then the next 5 cars hit nose to tail. The car behind usually get unassured clear distance tickets. The right thing no but that is the way it is.
We all follow too close for the most or we would get cut off all the time. The best you can do is keep an eye out are react faster.
Sorry about the crash it could have been much worse. Anyone you can walk away from is a good one.
I suspect you will see this HHR back on the road. It would not take much for a shop to buy it cheap and fix it to sell with a salvage title. Many places do this all the time.

The impact could not have been too hard as the bags or seat belts never went off.

That's just silly. You know the old saying about taking anything less than a gun to a gun fight (which this isn't). I think you missed the whole point of the statement. What's the point of confronting someone after an accident anyway? So many things could go wrong.

of course to make sure everything is okay with them for them to be driving squirley. and thats not to be said as a joke, being a diabetic i have had an insulin reaction while driving and it got kinda ugly but no one got hurt , and if some one wouldnt have followed me who know how long i wouldve sat in a ditch. now if it got taken further then that yes that would be rediculous.
