You don't have to have an XM exterior antenna IMHO. I think the antenna windshield mount, like the one available on the XM website ($19.99), would be OK IMHO.

You could get a car XM radio for as little as $19.99CAN. It comes with the car kit. You just glue the antenna to the windshield mount, and you would be ready to go.

I hadn't seen the windshield antenna before, but I was thinking of the one that is magnetic that mounts on the roof. My dad has one in his old Silverado, and it scratched up the paint, and is a pain to run the wire around to try and hide it in the interior. It just looks cheap.

It still would have been easier had mine come with it. All I would have to do is order the subscription!

Although, maybe that's a good thing...I don't have the money anyways!!!

Anyways, my dad has XM radio in our garage, and I used to hate it. There were no good stations for me. Well, when they merged with Sirius, they added Alt Nation (XM47) which I had heard before at work, and LOVED! Now I love listening to it! I wish I had it in the car!
You should be able to get a XM kit as an accessory from Chevy. Looks like they list for about $225, not including installation. There are third-party kits as well. We used a third-party kit in our HHR as I didn't know about the GM kit at the time. Works OK - not great- but OK.
