Yes, you can kill your battery with the stereo
While painting the house last week, I was rockin' the tunes from my car. Next day, back at it I cranked 'er up again. After an hour or so, the sound starts cutting in and out, so I go and fiddle with the knobs.(red to make it easy) No help. Next I try to start the car. Clickity, clickity, click...

ive gotten about 8 hours before while camping... not sure how long you had it going the first day. i usually will start it and let it run for 15 or 20 minutes around every 5 hours or so if i use it all day. it will recharge the battery i assume you already knew this tho. i thought the car had what was called battery rundown protection. but i never seen or experienced it with the HHR

Battery rundown protection...
I think the battery rundown protection has to do with lights being on, either interior or exterior (headlights). I've noticed that when vacuuming my HHR's interior that the dome lights turn off automatically after 10 minutes or so if the doors are still open. I'd assume that the headlights will turn off automatically if left on after the vehicle's been shut off.

That is why my camping trailer has a deep-cycle battery. That can last for a weekend or so. Last month I came out of Home Depot and somebody was asking for a jump because they left their interior lights on while shopping. Only about one hour killed their battery.

Wasn't it determined here before that the differences in time on battery was dependant on which stereo system you had???
The prem sound with sub woofer and amp obviously bleeds down more power, especially when turned up.
