Is Your HHR a Winter Driver?
#11
My '07 HHR, which just clicked over 65,500 miles last week, has never balked at our Buffalo area winter weather. She lives outside since my garage is too full of crap and she's routinely encased in ice and snow this time of the year. Last week I made the mistake of leaving my Sirius radio plugged into the power outlet and her battery went dead. A jump restored it and she's been fine since. I replaced the stock Firestones with Goodyear Assurance Triple-Treds before last winter and those tires, coupled with traction control, have kept me going in anything old-man-winter can dish out. AWD? 4X4? Don't need 'em for Tropicar.

Year round.... heat cold wet dry .....also still have my 89 s'rado that only sees heavy duty use( Still have 1/2 tank gas left from early LAST year!!)....havn't had any driving problems in winter yet...now the LS sucks cuz of the tires.
At this point I don't want to drive anything else.....well, until spring when the bike gets dusted off.....

If you have a son that is a good welder (or if you do it yourself), then frame reinforcement may not be a problem, which is what we do.

Careful with Toyotas, Nissans and Isuzus when exposed to salt. Speaking from 1st hand experience, it will probably run forever, but might eventually break in half due to frame rust (bodies stay beautiful, but the frames turn to dust).
