your insurance company...HHR a car or a truck?

I'm shopping around for different insurance since we also own an 88 Mustang GT that we insure with full coverage. we are currently with Allstate which gives us a decent(read; I'm not getting completely ripped off) price on the Mustang but not so much on the HHR. because they classify it as a truck it has to carry higher premiums(so our agent tells us). it seems that every company I have called so far classifies it is a car except Allstate.

so, who is your insurance company and do they classify the HHR as a car or a truck?

My insurance co (The Hartford) and the NY DMV classify it as a Suburban. I'm paying extra for that so I call it a truck.

I've got American National Insurance and they rate it as a station wagon. They have great rates and I can have my premium taken out of my checking account monthly at no additional charge.

Truck to wagon

When my plates arrived for my HHR, they were commercial which in California is a truck type designation. Commercial tags cost more than for say, wagon status. I pitched a fit, went to DMV and had my HHR verified as a wagon.
But in the mean time, I had the personalized plates I ordered associated to the VIN and as commercial.
Took those documents to my dealer and had them change that status.
They submitted the proper paper work. I received regular plates with the correct status... still not done yet.... had to go back to DMV and have the personalized plates, VIN reassigned and current status all match up. What an ordeal that all was.
I was refunded from my dealer the overcharge for my registration.

This thread served as a reminder to check with my insurance carrier to check what rate I'm being charged for now that my vehicle status has been changed from a "truck" to a "wagon".
