10K mile update and creaky console question

I bought my SS 1/31/08 and just turned 10,000 miles. I believe it was built Jan 2008.

So far I have been extreamly happy with this car!

I traded in a 2007 Fall Limited Edition with the 2.4 and have never regreted making the switch. I thought about building the 2.4, but looked at what was avialable and could have spent the difference between the trade price in and new SS cost and still had less HP.

From the design side, I wish Cevy would have offered armrests on the manual tranny, but I will be adding one to the passengers seat for those long expressway trips when shifting is rare. In the future I will probably add a more agressive exhaust and possibly an intake to free up the breathing a little. Thought about having it "tuned" but after reading some of Chevy's threats about voiding warranty, feel it's just not worth it. Besides, it really runs well as is and with a few extra HP by freeing up the breathing, it's all I need. But honestly, I do want more of an exhaust note so it sounds more like performance car.

I really like the new instant MPG readout and the tire pressure sensors and have been very anal about keeping the tires exactly the same (I run them at 35psi cold for better milage). I am also a bit of Dr. Jeckel and Mr Hyde when it comes to driving. Most of the time I really like to watch my fuel milage, including running 70MPH on the expressway and coasting with foot on the clutch when I know I will have to stop ahead... But when the bug hits me (or a ricer pulls next to me), I can't help but get on it for a while. So far I have only had it up to 122 MPH (GPS) but I know it will do more. I noticed that the factory speedo is a little optimistic as it reads 2 -3 MPH faster than what my GPS says. My worst milage has been 27.8 MPG, the best has been 31.2, and my overall average has been 29.8. I check both the gauge and calculate it based on the fuel I put in. I found a station near me that sells 100% gas, no ethonal, and almost always (90% of the time) use their premium 93 octane, unless out of my home area.
Also, I have beat all the ricers. I'm not sure if it is just the car or that I get the hole-shot as they are not expecting that kind of speed out of a mini suburban/retro station wagon

Problems so far:

The tube from the turbo to the intercooler has a broken bracket. The tube bounces around in the engine compartment but doesn't effect preformance. The dealer ordered a new one over a month ago, but still hasn't come in yet.

A new problem (or maybe I am just noticing now that I close the windows to run the AC) is that there is a loaud creaking sound coming from the center console area, seems like the shifter riser, for lack of better terms. When turning or hitting even minor bumps or just twisting from the road imperfections it makes a "creaking" sound from somewhere in the center.
When the replacement turbo tube comes in I will have the dealer take a look at it.

Has anyone else run across this? You know how dealers can be.... If I give them an idea, it may help get the problem resolved faster.

Anyway, not bad for a $24K American made car caple of 150MPH speeds and 260/260 with a 100,000 powertrain warranty!

Invoice - 1500 cash back - 1000 on GM card = less than 24k for my SS auto.

As far as the creaking noise goes, I've never had good luck getting these things fixed unless they're quite loud and very repeatable. My sunroof rattles often but it's quite quiet (still drives me nuts) and the dealership told me to bring it back if it got worse. Good luck getting your creak fixed, I hate cheap-sounding interiors!

I would try giving all surfaces a firm hit with the palm of your hand, it could be that some of the retainers are not fully engaged. I have had all the panels off and on a couple of times, and have no creaks or sqeaks even going over a washboard dirt/gravel ranch road occasionally. The cattleguards are a different situation! I have to creep over those or the dash looks like it is going to explode (night and day difference from my Silverado) not that I am complaining, just a different vehicle, with a different intended use.

I have averaged about 23-24mpg my last 3 fill ups, and I don't beat on it too much. Wish I was seeing closer to 30.
