UPDATE: Car went into shop on 05/03/09, out on 06/03/09:
Conclusion according to invoice; 1. Bearing seized in turbo causing complete lock-up of impeller. 2. Quoting from invoice "I had also found turbo bypass valve solenoid had a broken port when car came in. I tried to order it but after 5 weeks has not come in, still on order so we had to glue port back on for now. I also found the reason it was broken was vac hoses not routed correctly".
Car running good now. Glad to be out of the rental Cobalt. Not sure if I want to head across country on vacation with temporary repair. Dealer has been decent and tried to get it fixed. Svc mgr is working with regional to get me some type of "compensation". I'm pushing for a Stage installed.
