Well I did my research and opted to save some money and order the 09 SS. Only because by the time I had the money to start thinking about a new car the 08 production run was over and I could not order one. So on July 11 I ordered my 09 in Imperial blue, with LSD, 5 Speed, ebony/grey sport seat, and Brembo brake package.

So my question is about when should I expect this thing to come in? I have not even heard back from the dealer on an approx. build date.

 

I placed my order on June 8th, my tpw was June 23rd, was actually built on the 27th(only takes one day) and I had the SS on the 19th of July. Since they are built in mexico, it takes about 14 days to get where they are going. From the order date it shouldn't take more than 30-45 days.

 

2009 production started June 23, so now I am afraid I am stuck in a long list of orders. Like I said I ordered almost a month ago and still have not heard a word on a projected build date from the dealer. Guess I should have ordered it in may when I was in the dealers talking to them. Maybe I will go see the dealer tomorrow.....

According to two separte dealerships that I went to, the production for the SS Canadian models will not start till the end of August. Then you have 8 to 10 weeks for build and delivery. Check with your dealership the can confirm this as well.

 

I placed my order on 27 June. The factory is scheduled to build my '09 SS the week of 11 August. First the dealer had to wait to order, then when Chevy accepted the order had to wait for factory to accept. So, with any luck, I might see mine around Labor Day and I live in SoCal.

 

When I ordered the car he said maybe late Aug but more likely mid to late Sep. This post just makes me sad..... oh well I am going to call the dealer tomorrow and see if I can get a better idea.

 

sorry for the bad news - was a huge dissapointment for me as well - canceled my original order with the first dealership who were lieing to me about the delivery.

Sorry to hear the bad news, I went thru the same thing back in march, I know the sad dealer bullsh*t story very well. I went to a different dealer and re ordered an 09...At this dealership, me and the new car inventory mgr talk once a week, I got his cell phone for updates on my build. That seems the way it should be, I later found out that the first dealer had BAD CREDIT with GM, They simply could not order a car from general motors until they paid for it first.
You will have better luck anywhere else you go, Deal with the New Car Manager, And demand Updates on your build every two weeks.. Get his Cell#

Well I went to the dealer today and I am sad to say I am not any closer to my SS today than I was yesterday.

Dealer- "you want the good news ore the bad news"

Me- "Whants the bad news? They are not starting production for another month"

Dealer -" Well yeah" then "GM has not given the go ahead to start building the HHR's for canada yet"

That is esentually how it went down. So the order is sitting in Oshawa to be oked for the go ahead. I would have liked to have driven this thing before November but I dunno how likely that will be.

By the way I never did get the good news.....?
